Reference project: Lofoten Bio Centre in Leknes, Norway

In Leknes on the Lofoten, a beautiful archipelago in Norway, the Lofoten Bio Centre has been built. A competence centre for organisations that are at the forefront of innovations and solutions in the industries in which they operate.
The companies STIM and ACD Pharma are conducting research here into the development of bactericidal viruses using aquaculture. The development of bacteria that tolerate vital antibiotics is one of the greatest medical challenges of our time. Every unnecessary and incorrect use of antibiotics contributes to the resistance of the bacteria, also called antibiotic resistance.
Byggfester AS from Trondheim (Norway) – our long-term partner – supplied the fastening materials for the flat roof of this innovative building based on Guardian's expertise and knowledge.
Wind load calculation
The combination of the architecturally very high-quality design and the fact that the laboratory is partly located in the sea means that environmental factors such as the wind have a major influence on the building. A wind load calculation is invaluable in such projects. Of course to prevent storm damage, but also to comply with the applicable regulations.
A wind load calculation not only determines the right materials, but also creates an optimal mounting pattern. This way you achieve maximum efficiency in terms of costs and sustainable use of materials.
For this innovative project, the Guardian R48 tube was used in combination with BSHD 4,8 screws.
