ASTL adjustable fastener for tapered insulation

Many flat roofs with a concrete deck are made with tapered insulation. When there is a slope, as a roofer you have to work with different length fasteners in order to bridge the difference in height. This is not only inconvenient, but also time-consuming. Guardian has a solution for this problem:

the ASTL adjustable fastener for tapered insulation. As a result, a larger difference in height in the insulation can be bridged with only 1 fastener.

There are 3 scenarios in which the ASTL fastener is a more than good alternative for the standard fastener. We will explain them:

ASTL adjustable fastener with height difference in tapered insulation

Are you dealing with a roof with differences in heights, due to, for example, tapered insulation? Then as a roofer you see a challenge. With a standard concrete hammer plug you have a maximum clearance of one centimeter. This means that you need several lengths of the concrete hammer plugs to bridge the slope. The consequence? Different products, larger order quantities and a (large) surplus at the end of the project. And we haven't even talked about the loss of time that occurs. Continuously searching for the right fastener is anything but efficient.

Spare yourself that annoyance by choosing the ASTL fastener. This fastener adjusts itself automatically. All you have to do is pre-drill with our special HB-CON drill with stopper and then attach the ASTL tube-screw combination.
Please note: you can bridge a slope of up to 11 centimeters with one length.

ASTL adjustable fastener for renovation projects

The ASTL fastener is also the best choice for renovation projects. With these types of projects you have no insight into the unevenness of the concrete deck. In addition, the multiple bitumen layers cause inequalities in the roof build up.

If you have an ASTL adjustable fastener to fix the roof, you're safe. Also in this case you need fewer different fasteners and you are always at the right depth, for optimal fixation without the risk of future damage.

ASTL adjustable fastener for height differences in concrete elements / PREFAB elements

Even when concrete elements or PREFAB elements are used, you run the risk of a difference in height. In fact, that difference can be as much as five centimeters in some cases. The insulation that comes on top of this will not rule out this difference in height, but will strengthen it. So even when there is a difference in height due to the choice of concrete elements or PREFAB elements, the choice for the ASTL fastener for tapered insulation is the only correct one.

Additional benefits

The ASTL fastener for tapered insulation  is not only useful in the mentioned scenarios above. This innovative way of fastening your flat roof has a few other advantages:

  • This fastener is 100% step-safe. The telescopic effect of the tube always moves with the insulation. If you walk next to it or step on it, the tube moves downwards together with the roof membrane, because the screw can move freely in the tube.
  • The ASTL has the same calculation values as a standard combination; 600 to 800 Newton design load - sometimes even more - depending on the type of tube and roofing membrane.
  • It is extra safe to fasten in combination with a drill. You always have the right depth with pre-drilling in concrete. The drill still provides a slightly wider diameter in the insulation and ensures that the grit is smashed under the insulation! There will be no grit on top of the borehole or fall back into the borehole, causing you to contaminate the roof and then do not grab the ASTL properly. Security and safety first!

The ASTL fastener for tapered insulation is available in Ø 45 and Ø 75.
